This Level 3 Apprenticeship is aimed at team leaders / supervisors with a first line management role in private, public or third sector organisations. They will have operational / project responsibilities or responsibilities for managing a team. Their key responsibilities are likely to include supporting, managing and developing team members, managing projects, planning and monitoring workloads and resources, delivering operational plans, resolving problems, and building relationships internally and externally.

Apprenticeship Team Leader / Supervisor Level 3 Overview

The Team Leader/Supervisor Level 3 apprenticeship requires apprentices to take responsibility for managing a team or a discrete project. They can support, manage and develop team members, manage projects, plan and monitor workloads and resources. They can take responsibility for delivering operational plans, resolving problems, and building relationships.

The qualification gives learners the opportunity to:

  • develop the technical and theoretical knowledge, and understanding that underpins competence in a first line management job role
  • develop and demonstrate a range of transferable skills and professional behaviours and attributes in the work environment
  • develop and demonstrate a range of technical management skills to carry out their job role successfully in the work environment
  • achieve a nationally recognised Level 3 qualification
  • develop confidence and readiness for the apprenticeship end-point assessment
  • develop personal growth and engagement in learning

Entry Requirements

No prior knowledge, understanding, skills or qualifications are required before learners register for this qualification. However, learners will need to be on an apprenticeship programme, or be otherwise employed in a first line management role with operational/project responsibilities or responsibility for managing a team.

There are four components that make up end-point assessment for the Team Leading/Supervisor apprenticeship standard.

End-point assessment will consist of a:

  • Multiple-choice test
  • Portfolio of evidence
  • Competency based interview
  • Professional discussion

To be awarded the Apprenticeship in Team Leader / Supervisor Level 3, candidates must achieve the following components:

  • English Level 2 Functional Skill
  • Maths Level 2 Functional Skill
  • End-Point Assessment - Apprentices must pass end-point assessment to be awarded the Apprenticeship in Team Leading/Supervisor Level 3

Career Progression

With further training and development, learners can progress to more senior management roles, such as operational or departmental manager.

On completing the Apprenticeship, learners can choose to register as associate members with a relevant management and leadership professional body in order to support their professional career development and progression.
