Anyone who has a responsibility for identifying, locating and marking underground services.
The Advanced Operator course for Underground Cable Avoidance has been designed for operatives who require further knowledge, understanding and the technical ability to locate underground services as part of a safe system of work for excavation. It is essential for anyone involved in excavation work on construction sites, roads or industrial estates etc. The course will provide learners with an advanced skillset required to locate underground services using utility drawings, including the use and maintenance of a CAT and Genny as an Advanced Operator (AO).

In order to ensure the interaction between the learners and the tutor is spread evenly and effectively, the maximum number of learners allowed on a course is eight.
Learners will sit a theoretical test, followed by a practical assessment.
Upon successful completion of training, learners will receive an Essential Site Skills certificate which is valid for 3 years, along with a Blue Advanced Operator ID card.
Those that complete the Advanced Operator log book will receive an Essential Site Skills updated Blue Advanced Operator card.
