Course Information

The EUSR Products for Drinking Water course is designed for operatives, supervisors, managers, and professionals working within the water industry supply chain, including operations, capital delivery, developer services, procurement, consultants, and supply chain partners.

This scheme supports compliance with the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations and associated legislation by raising awareness of how chemicals, materials, and products used in drinking water systems must be tested and approved to protect public health.


EUSR Products for Drinking Water Course Overview

Developed in collaboration with UK water companies and key industry stakeholders, this course provides the knowledge and awareness necessary to help delegates understand their responsibilities when working with products that come into contact with drinking water.

The training reinforces the need for regulatory compliance and helps reduce the risk of water contamination by ensuring safe selection, use, and management of approved products. On successful completion of the training and assessment, delegates will receive an EUSR registration valid for 3 years.


Course Aim

To raise awareness of the legal requirements for products used in the drinking water supply chain and promote safe and compliant practices that help protect water quality and public health.


Course Content

The course includes eight modules that cover the core principles of regulatory compliance and safe practices regarding products for drinking water:

  • Module 1: Introduction to Products for Drinking Water Scheme
  • Module 2: Scope and Applicability of the Regulations and the Consequences of not Complying
  • Module 3: The Regulators’ List of Approved Products for Drinking Water
  • Module 4: Instructions for Use Associated with a Product
  • Module 5: Small Surface Area Products
  • Module 6: The Regulation of Water Treatment Chemicals
  • Module 7: Specific Requirements in the Regulations
  • Module 8: Seeking Advice and Record Keeping

Assessment & Certification

Assessment

Delegates will complete a multiple-choice assessment consisting of 25 questions set by EUSR. The test is marked by an EUSR Approved Trainer.

Certification

Completing a EUSR Products for Drinking Water programme and assessment results in an EUSR registration for three years.

Virtual EUSR Cards

All new EUSR registrations are now issued as a virtual card rather than a plastic card. The virtual card is a secure record of the active EUSR registrations held by an individual, accessible via the Vircarda app.

Renewal

To renew this qualification, delegates must retake the course with an EUSR Approved Trainer prior to the expiry of their registration.

From Monday 14 February 2022, all new EUSR registrations will be issued a virtual card instead of a plastic card. The new virtual card is a record of the active EUSR registrations held by an individual.
