Any those involved in the tendering, procurement or contract negotiations and legal frameworks required by any organisation. This course is for very experienced JCT 2016 contract practitioners.
Understanding contractual provisions can be complicated; JCT 2016 was introduced to develop, publish, procure and revise a suite of standard forms of contract and tender documentation for construction. Suite of “standard forms” means a group of documents necessary to operate a particular method of procurement. JCT 2016 is the current edition of JCT’s standard forms of contract. The JCT ranges in publications from standard contracts, to major construction projects or a Design and Build Contract which is designed for construction projects where the contractor carries out both the design and the construction work.
The course aim is to provide a Masterclass training session to existing practitioners on the JCT 2016 family of contracts, specifically focusing on the Standard Building Contract with Quantities (SBC/Q), but other members of the JCT 2016 family will also be considered and discussed. At the end of the course, participants should be able to:
For our Masterclass course we invite the delegates to submit questions about issues on JCT contracts, either real or hypothetical one week prior to the course. These questions will be answered on the day, together with additional questions and exercises provided by the tutor. These questions should be sent during the course booking process.
Learners are strongly advised to have attended prior courses at intermediate or advanced level JCT training, or possess the necessary competence/experience to attend.
In order to ensure the interaction between the learners and the tutor is spread evenly and effectively, the maximum number of learners allowed on a course is sixteen.
Learners will explore a range of case studies to underpin knowledge and go through predetermined questions set by the learners.
Upon completion of training learners will receive an Essential Site Skills certificate and a photo ID card.
We advise a refresher every 3 years due to the changes in industry best practice and contractual standards.
