The NCFE CACHE Level 2 Certificate in the Principles of the Prevention and Control of Infection in Health Care Settings is eligible for European Social Funding and is for learners working, or about to work in the health and social care sector, giving them awareness and understanding of infection prevention and control.

NCFE CACHE Infection Control Course Aims

This qualification aims to help learners to understand:

  • the meaning and importance of infection control
  • the causes of infections, the conditions in which they thrive and the ways that they can be spread
  • methods used to prevent and control the spread of infection

NCFE CACHE Infection Control Course Objectives

The objectives of this qualification are to:

  • give learners working or intending to work in health care settings knowledge and understanding of infection prevention and control to support their role in the workplace
  • enable learners to progress to other qualifications in this subject area, or within the wider area of health and social care

Course Units

  1. Principles of the causes and spread of infection in health care settings
  2. Principles of the importance of personal hygiene and health in the prevention and control of infection in health care settings
  3. Principles of decontamination, cleaning and waste management in health care settings
  4. Principles of infection prevention and control in a health care setting

To be awarded the Level 2 Certificate in the Principles of the Prevention and Control of Infection in Health Care Settings, learners are required to successfully complete 4 mandatory units.

Assessment involves a blended delivery approach - This is a mixture of face-to-face and remote sessions with a qualified health and social care assessor.

Delegates will be awarded the NCFE CACHE Level 2 Certificate in the Principles of the Prevention and Control of Infection in Health Care Settings.

Progression Opportunities

Learners who achieve this qualification could progress to:
