This qualification is designed for learners wishing to increase their knowledge and understanding of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs).

This qualification will provide learners with an opportunity to develop an understanding of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) relevant to their current or future roles and will equip them with basic understanding of techniques for preventing and addressing ACEs in practice.

The objectives of this qualification are to enable the learner to:

  • explore childhood and family structures
  • explore ACEs and understand potential outcomes for children enduring ACEs
  • understand the role of the practitioner supporting children impacted by ACEs
  • develop strategies to improve outcomes for children affected by ACEs

Mandatory Units

Internally assessed and externally quality assured portfolio of evidence. Learners are required to successfully achieve 3 mandatory units.

On successful completion of the course, learners will be awarded with a NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Adverse Childhood Experiences.
