Course Information
This New Roads & Street Works Act (NRSWA) 1 day course is for the single unit 2 (Unit O1) or 10 (Unit S1).
The Unit 2 (for Operatives) course is for anyone who needs to physically set up signs, lighting or guarding on the roads.
The Unit 10 (for Supervisors) course is for anyone who is supervising the setting up of signing, lighting and guarding on the roads.
The NRSWA training course aims to provide delegates with the skills and knowledge to perform Signing, Lighting and Guarding duties to the standards prescribed by HAUC (UK) and the awarding bodies in-line with the NRSW Act 1991, in order to safeguard themselves and others.
You will become competent in the set up of traffic light, cone, signs and barriers to direct traffic and pedestrians around your place of work, to include
The Operative will learn how to use the relevant equipment and to physically put this out.
The Supervisor will learn how to monitor the use of equipment, identify hazards and complete risk assessments.
In order to ensure the interaction between the learners and the tutor is spread evenly and effectively, and to ensure the courses are fully delivered in accordance with the Scheme rules, the maximum number of learners allowed on a course is eight.

Assessment
Classroom based tutorial and presentation, group and practical exercises, oral and practical assessments and an online assessment at the end of the day.
A NRSWA training group may contain a mix of both Operatives and Supervisors. Sessions will be varied within the overall framework to allow the most effective development of the candidate.
Certification
Cabwi, City & Guilds or SQA (Scottish Qualifications Authority) certificate.
