This QA Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment (RQF) qualification is ideal for those who work in, or aspire to work in, a construction environment.
With no formal entry requirements, the course has been specifically designed to provide a route towards applying for the Green Labourer CSCS Card. This qualification is also ideal for refresher construction training.

This qualification forms part of the QA Health and Safety suite of qualifications. The qualification and learning outcomes are based on the recommendations of:
Supported by the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB), this course develops Learners’ basic awareness of health and safety in a construction environment. It includes knowing the risks of working within a construction environment and the principles of risk assessment for improving health and safety at work, the importance of safe manual handling, the importance of working safely at height and the importance of working around equipment safely. This qualification specification provides information for Centres about the delivery of the QA Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment (RQF) and includes the unit information, assessment methods and quality assurance arrangements.
The purpose of this qualification is to prepare Learners for employment in a construction environment and is one route towards applying for the Green Labourer CSCS card. Learners who successfully complete QA Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment (RQF) and have completed the CITB Health, Safety & Environment Test within the last 2 years can apply for a Green Labourer CSCS card.
Entry requirements Learners must be at least 14 years old on the first day of the training. There are no other formal entry requirements but to benefit from the learning we advise that Learners have a minimum of Level 1 in literacy or numeracy or equivalent.
1 x Theory Assessment (Multiple Choice Question Paper).
Successful Learners will receive a personalised QA Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment (RQF) e-certificate immediately after their results have been submitted and verified*. Alternatively, printed certificates are also available.
Upon completion, learners may also apply for the Green CSCS Labourers card on completion of the course if they have passed the CITB Health Safety and Enivironment test within the last 2 years.
