This Level 3 Award in Risk Assessment (RQF) qualification is for anyone with the responsibility of conducting risk assessments in low risk environments, e.g. supervisors, site managers. It would also be suitable for people who significantly contribute to the risk assessment process, e.g. team leaders, technicians.

Level 3 Award in Risk Assessment Overview

This regulated and nationally recognised qualification is specifically designed to provide learners with the knowledge and skills required to conduct risk assessments in low risk premises.

During this 2 day course, learners will develop their knowledge of risk assessment processes so that they can apply their knowledge and skills when completing risk assessments in the workplace. Topics covered include: the importance of health and safety in the workplace, the principles involved in risk assessment and the relationship between hazard and risk as part of an accident and ill health strategy.

Level 3 Award in Risk Assessment (RQF) Course Aim

The aim of this qualification is to develop the learner’s knowledge of the principles of risk assessment so they can apply their knowledge and skills when completing risk assessments in the workplace. 

Level 3 Award in Risk Assessment Course Content

This course will develop a learner’s understanding of:

  • the importance of health and safety in the workplace
  • the principles involved in risk assessment and the relationship between hazard and risk as part of an accident and ill health strategy

Learners will then apply their knowledge of the risk assessment process by completing risk assessments of the workplace.

Entry Requirements

Learners must be at least 16 years old on the first day of the training. It is recommended that learners already hold Level 2 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace (QCF) or Level 2 Award in Principles of Risk Assessment (RQF).

There are no other formal entry requirements but to benefit from the learning we advise that learners have a minimum of Level 1 in literacy or numeracy or equivalent.

Learner Numbers

In order to ensure the interaction between the learners and the tutor is spread evenly and effectively, and to ensure the courses are fully delivered in accordance with the Scheme rules, the maximum number of learners allowed on a course is sixteen.

1 x 30 Multiple Choice Question Paper (Theory assessment), risk assessment and continuous formative assessment conducted throughout the course.

Successful Learners will receive a QA Level 3 Award in Risk Assessment (RQF) certificate.
