This course is designed for any person responsible for insertion, recovery and safe rescue of fellow operatives on site using a UCL Davit Arm system.

Safe Use of Davit Arm Course Overview

To provide learners with the knowledge and practical experience, using a Davit Arm, to enable them to rescue fellow operatives whilst working on site.

The course will also ensure employers can implement the legal requirements as stated within the Work at Height Regulations 2005 and Confined Space Regulations 1997 – Plan suitable and sufficient arrangements for the rescue of persons in the event of an emergency, whether or not arising out of a specified risk.

Safe Use of Davit Arm Course Content

  • Legislation overview
  • Pre-use Inspection and build/dismantle of UCL Davit Arm system
  • Usage of winch/fall arrest recovery block (where fitted)
  • Practical and safe use of a Davit Arm

Learner Numbers

In order to ensure the interaction between the learners and the tutor is spread evenly and effectively, the maximum number of learners allowed on a course is Eight.

  • Continual observation assessment throughout
  • Practical

Successful learners will be awarded an Essential Site Skills Safe Use of Davit Arm Training certificate and ID Card valid for 3 years. (Refresher recommended once a year).
