David Ashley Construction Ltd - Case Study

Based in Alfreton, David Ashley Construction Ltd specialise in reinforced concrete structures and associated groundworks, operating locally and nationally. They carry out a variety of reinforced concrete works on a wide range of projects, including Concrete Frames, Substructures, Highways and Bridgeworks, Water Treatment works, Power Stations and Stadiums.

What they needed

Due to limited training budgets, David Ashley were struggling to afford to up-skill and train staff. This sometimes had the knock-on effect of demotivating their workforce.

Outcome

After consulting with ESS a learner was identified as being the perfect person to upscale. The learner was placed on the L2 NVQ Diploma in Controlling Lifting Operations Slinger/Signaller, enabling him to be able to apply for a Blue Competent Operator CPCS card. Through this process the delegate would then be able to work unsupervised, which would free up a site manager to bring in another worker and supervise them. The learner has been much more productive and says he feels much more valued now he has been able to complete this training.
