Asbestos stands out as perhaps the most perilous construction material ever employed. Annually, numerous individuals suffer and lose their lives due to asbestos exposure, a substance extensively utilized by the construction sector until the turn of the century.
The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 pertains to employers, employees, self-employed individuals, and duty holders, encompassing all activities involving materials containing asbestos. As per Regulation 10 of CAR, employers are obligated to ensure that adequate information, instruction, and training are provided to employees at risk of asbestos exposure. This mandate extends to maintenance workers and others who might encounter or disturb asbestos.
This course addresses asbestos awareness and caters to individuals who may encounter asbestos in the course of their work, notably builders, plumbers, electricians, carpenters, and other trades associated with construction and maintenance. Comprising four modules with concluding questions, the course delves into topics such as identifying asbestos, its common applications, risk mitigation, and pertinent legislation regarding asbestos-related work Participants have the opportunity to review their responses at the conclusion of each module prior to the final submission. Additionally, they are afforded three attempts for each module to attain a perfect pass rate of 100%.
