Delivering CITB courses online allows delegates to access high-quality training from any suitable location. To ensure a smooth learning experience, delegates must join the course using a device that meets CITB’s minimum technical requirements. These requirements ensure that course materials can be viewed correctly and that delegates can fully participate in all activities, discussions and assessments.
Below you’ll find the minimum system specifications for joining any online CITB Site Safety Plus course delivered by Essential Site Skills.
Supported Devices for Attending the Course
To comply with CITB remote delivery rules, delegates must attend using a laptop or desktop computer.
You must join the course on:
A Windows laptop or desktop computer
A Mac laptop or desktop computer
❌ You cannot attend on:
Mobile phones (iOS or Android)
Tablets (iPad, Android tablets, Surface tablets in tablet mode)
Chromebooks
Mobile devices do not meet CITB’s requirements for visibility, participation and assessment during remote courses.
Minimum PC System Requirements (Windows Devices)
For Windows laptops or PCs, CITB specify the following minimum system requirements:
Operating System: Windows 7, 8, 8.1 or 10 (not Windows RT or S)
Processor: Pentium (2009) / Core i3 2 GHz or equivalent
Memory: 2 GB RAM
Disk Space: At least 10 GB free recommended
Screen Resolution: 1024 x 768 or higher
Graphics: Any Direct3D 9 compatible graphics card, 128 MB
Internet: Broadband internet connection required for installation, updates, media and links
Other:
Microsoft Internet Explorer 11
Adobe Reader (for PDF documents)
Microsoft PowerPoint (for some course content)
Requirements for Mac Laptops/Desktops
Mac devices are supported provided you can:
Use a working webcam and microphone
Access the online training platform
View PDF and PowerPoint files
Maintain a stable broadband connection throughout the course
Internet, Camera and Audio Requirements
All delegates must have:
A stable broadband internet connection
A working webcam (built-in or external)
A microphone and speakers/headset
CITB require trainers to verify attendance, visual engagement and participation throughout the full duration of the course.
Accessing CITB Digital Publications
If you select a digital publication, you will receive an access code by email.
Supported platforms for viewing digital publications:
Windows
macOS
iOS
Android
Digital publications can be viewed in a standard web browser or in the dedicated CITB viewer app.
Please note: These platforms are for viewing the publication only.
You must still attend the live online course using a laptop or desktop computer.
If you select a hard copy publication, you may be asked to sign to confirm receipt.
