First Aid Annual Refresher

This three-hour practical first aid refresher course provides first aiders with an opportunity to practice and update their skills as a qualified first aider, at any time while their first aid certificate is valid.

Employers are legally required to ensure their first aiders are competent and maintain their skills throughout the three years in which their certificates are valid.

Although a certificate is valid for three years, studies have shown that the quality of first aid skills can deteriorate after 6 months. This is called skills fade. The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) strongly recommends that first aiders attend a 1st aid refresher course once every year during this three year period.

The First Aid Annual Refresher course is aimed at that hold a current First Aid at Work or Emergency First Aid at Work certificate. This course does not renew First Aid at Work or Emergency First Aid at Work courses.
