Who Should Do an NVQ in Business Administration?

Here at Essential Site Skills, we offer a range of NVQ qualifications and amongst the most popular are Business Administration NVQs. Providing a range of practical skills, an NVQ in Business Admin can lead you down many different career paths, across a range of industries, including construction.

In this week’s blog post, we explain what you will learn whilst studying for a Business Admin NVQ, the types of roles you can progress to, and who the qualification is suitable for.

NVQs

Just in case you didn’t already know; NVQ stands for national vocational qualification. NVQs are work based qualifications, usually studied by people who are working in a role that is relevant to the NVQ they want to achieve.

From the vast number of NVQs available (there are more than 1000 subjects!), one of the most popular is a Business and Administration NVQ – possibly because the skills can be applied in many situations and across industries.

Should I Do an NVQ in Business Administration?

If you are currently working in an administrative support role, in either the private or public sector, then an NVQ in Business Administration would be an ideal qualification for you. No matter what industry you work in, the skills learnt can be applied to your job. The nature of NVQs also mean that your qualification will be tailored to you and the business you work for.

Perhaps you don’t yet work in the administrative role that you want, but that’s what you’re aiming towards? An NVQ is the ideal way to prove to prospective employers that you have the knowledge to carry out your job and that you’re dedicated to professional development.

The NVQ in Business Administration is also suitable for people wishing to improve their general administrative and supervisory skills.

What Roles Can I Progress To?

An NVQ in Business Admin can lead to a variety of roles, across businesses of all types and sizes. Here are some of the roles you can progress to, or if you are already in one of these roles, an NVQ is a good way to show that you are committed to continual learning and progressing your career even further:

Either way, business administration skills are transferable and will carry you through your career.

Which Business and Administration NVQ is Right for Me?

Once you have decided to do an NVQ, you will be assessed to find out what level you should start at. Essential Site Skills currently offer two NVQs in Business Admin:

Level 2 NVQ in Business Administration

Level 2 is ideal if you are in a junior administration role and want to further your career, perhaps with a view to becoming office manager or a team leader. Or maybe you are looking for more practical knowledge to support you in your role. The NVQ covers areas such as communication in a business environment and how to develop working relationships with colleagues.

Level 3 NVQ in Business Administration

The level 3 NVQ is for more experienced employees who already have administrative skills but want to develop those skills even more; perhaps so that you can implement new procedures or because you want to move into a management role. Mandatory units are the same as a Level 2 qualification but there is a wider selection of optional units.

Through our adult skills division, we also offer the following alternative:

NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Principles of Business Administration

This level 2 certificate is idea for learners who are preparing to work or already work in an administrative support role that requires them to carry out administrative daily activities with some level of initiative and business awareness.
